Position Summary: The Academic Partner, in collaboration with the academic content manager and other members of Teaching and Learning, is responsible for delivering high- quality instructional resources, enhancing classroom practices, and scaling effective programs within their assigned schools and network to increase Tulsa Public Schools students’ achievement and to prepare all students for success in college, career, and life. The Academic Partner works with their instructional leadership director to provide leadership for literacy in the district. Key Functions: ● Serves as the primary literacy resource for a set of assigned schools ● Provides coaching, modeling, co- teaching, and observation to school teams ● Engages in data -based strategic planning to support student growth in literacy ● Delivers professional learning aligned to district instructional priorities ● Serves as a liaison between schools and district literacy and assessment teams Minimum Qualifications: Education: ● Bachelor’s degree in elementary or secondary education, literacy, language and literacy, or bilingual literacy required; master’s degree preferred Experience: ● Five (5) years’ experience in effective K -12 classroom teaching ● Five (5) years’ experience in literacy, language and literacy, or ESL literacy Licenses and Certifications: ● Current Oklahoma teacher certification required ● Reading teacher endorsement, reading specialist endorsement, bilingual or ESL endorsement preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: ● Embody and support the department in living Tulsa Public Schools’ core values ● Knowledge and understanding of curricular frameworks, pedagogy, lesson planning, standards analysis, and quality classroom materials ● Deep knowledge of literacy standards, learning, and assessment ● Skill in implementing culturally responsive education practices ● Familiarity with Tulsa Public Schools’ learning expectations and curricular resources ● Ability to design and facilitate professional learning experiences aligned to Tulsa Public Schools’ vision for professional learning ● Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite ● Effective time management and organizational skills ● Effective communication skills ● Strong attention to detail ● A positive outlook, flexibility, and sense of possibility in stressful situations ● Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines ● The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance ● Ability to work collaboratively with others on a team ● Maintain personal engagement in professional development to enable growth and improvement for this position ● Knowledge of effective teaching and learning practices to support multilingual learners and students with disabilities highly preferred Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions. ● Serves as the primary elementary or secondary literacy resource for a K -5 or 6 -12 set of assigned schools and its schools ● Provides expertise in collaborative activities such as strategic planning and professional development with the goal of ensuring high levels of student achievement ● Engages in data -based strategic planning for the assigned network’s schools with the goal of ensuring student well -being and high levels of student academic growth in literacy ● Works with the instructional leadership director and school teams to analyze student work and achievement data and to adjust strategic planning and resource allocation at the network and school level ● Plans and delivers supports prioritized to schools with the highest needs, which may include individual or group coaching, modeling, co -teaching and observation ● Provides professional learning in literacy for assigned schools and the network and its school teams to ensure progress on district priorities intended to improve teaching and learning such as rigorous instruction, culturally responsive schools and classrooms, data- driven instruction, and personalized learning ● Serves as a liaison between the instructional leadership director, the assigned network’s schools and district literacy and assessment teams to ensure productive understanding and use of district policies, resources and professional learning ● Provides feedback to district departments on school support and customer service ● Prepares and reviews presentations, summaries, required reports, data, and other documents as needed for network planning as well as district and community reporting purposes ● Supports curriculum and resource development ● Develops and delivers district professional development ● Assists with professional development opportunities provided by district literacy and assessment managers ● Performs other tasks, duties, or services consistent with this position as assigned Customer Contacts: ● Internal: TPS District Employees ● External : Students, families, partnered vendors, community members : Supervisory Responsibility: ● This role does not directly supervise any individuals Working and Physical Conditions: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this position.
