Position Summary: Assists the Building and Grounds Site Supervisor (BGSS) in the day-to-day operation of the custodial department and help s insure the general cleanliness and appearance of the entire facility. This position continuous ly checks the building and grounds, keeping the BGSS informed of any deficiencies. He/she may be responsible for maintaining a current city license to operate the boiler and to maintain the swimming pool if applicable . He/she may be required to act as the BGSS in their absence. Minimum Qualifications: Education: • High school diploma or equivalent Experience: • One (1) year custodial experience Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Etc.: • 3rd Class Engineers License if applicable • Proficient or willing to learn Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite • Bilingual in Spanish preferred Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. with assistance • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions. • Sweeps and mop s • Dump s trash • Clean s windows • Moves furniture • Assist s with training employees • Unlock s and remov es chains from all doors • Turns on lights • Fires, check s, logs and maintain s the boiler as required • Turns on the air conditioning • Monitor s, clean s and maintain s the swimming pool as required • Monitor s, inspect s, and document s employees’ performance ( through discuss ions with the BGSS) • Clean s and monitor s an assigned area • Monitors building events including athletic games and events • Raises or lower s the flags • Takes out the mail • Assists with cleaning sidewalks and entrances of ice and snow • Checks the playgrounds and equipment for safety concerns • Replac es light bulbs and ceiling tiles • Check s fire extinguishers for functionality • Clean s the kitchen and/or cafeteria • Replac es filters • Processes maintenance work orders • Monitors and reports any issues or con cerns with the custodial team to the BGSS • Preforms other duties, tasks, or services consistent with this position as assigned Skills and Abilities Required : The following characteristics and physical skills are important for the successful performance of assigned duties. • Ability to work collaboratively with others on a team • Ability to safely operat e and properly maintain custodial equipment • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing • Must be self -starte r, highly motivated, have a positive attitude, and capable of relating to staff • Must have the ability, skill, and willingness to learn all phases of the job duties • Ability to prioritize work and influence others to complete assignments timely • Must be conscientious and exhibit good workmanship in all areas of position Customer Contacts: • Internal: TPS District Employees • External: Students, parents, local and state agencies, community members, partnered vendors Supervisory Responsibilities: • This role does not directly supervise any individuals Working Conditions: Exposure to the following situations may range from rare to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable. • Some o utside work in all weather conditions – extreme heat and cold included • Work is physically demanding (see physical requirements) Tulsa Public Schools is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team of individuals who contribute to the district's mission with their talents, skills, and energy.
