Position Summary : Assist bus drivers in providing safe efficient transportation for
special education students to and from school.
Minimum Qualifications :
Education :
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Etc.:
• MANDT, first aid, CPR training certifications required upon hire or within one (1)
year of hire
Other:
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of
performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a
qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.
• Oversees the loading and unloading of students, and releasing students to an
authorized individual
• Helps transfer students from the door of the bus into a seat or wheelchair bracket
• Ensures that each child is secured in a seat belt, wheelchair bracket, or special
equipment before the driver continues with his/her route
• Rides in the rear area or student area of the bus while transporting students so
all students are visible and accessible
• Maintains order and proper discipline of passengers
• Resolves disputes
• Assists in documenting and reporting severe disciplinary issues
• Report s to the driver if a student is brought to the bus in an unsanitary condition
either from the home or school
• Rides other routes
• Assist s the driver in checking the lights and with cleaning the bus
• Attends meetings, programs, and in -service training as assigned
• Performs other tasks, duties, and services consistent with this position as
assigned

• Possess the ability to quickly analyze a situation, work efficiently, and patiently
under stressful conditions, and provide timely solutions
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and possess a calm and respectful
demeanor when interacting with students, parents, and school personnel
• Ability to use the princip les of safety to perform skills to protect the health and
safety of self, students, parents, and school personnel

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• This role does not directly supervise any individuals
Working Conditions: Exposure to the following situations may range from rare to
frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable.
