Also, we love to have fun! Position Summary : Willing and able to drive all assigned routes as needed and assist Terminal Mangers and Lead drivers with various duties as needed. Drives a school bus safely in accordance with time schedules; transporting students to and from their homes, a variety of school sites and on field trips as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education : • High school diploma , GED , or equivalent previous experience in lieu of education Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc. : • Must possess or be willing to obtain a CDL Class A combination with passenger endorsement driver’s license • Must posses s or be willing to obtain a State of Oklahoma School Bus Driving Certificate • Must have a clean driving record Experience : • Previous experience driving a passenger bus preferred Physical Requirements: • Must pass an annual DOT physical • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally Other : • Proficient in Spanish is a plus • Must be 18 years of age or older Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions. • Operates a two -way radio • Oversees the loading and unloading of students, releasing students to authorized individual • Maintains order and proper discipline of passengers; resolves disputes, documents and reports severe disciplinary cases • Conducts daily safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle • Assures maintenance of bus and that bus is in a safe and clean operating condition • Reports needed mechanical repairs • Installs special safety belts • Sweeps interior of the bus and washes windows daily • Services the bus with gas and oil • Follows established security procedures • Maintains a variety of records and reports including but not limited to mileage, routing, maintenance, and time schedules • Attends meetings, programs, and in -service training as assigned • Maintains current required licenses and certificates • Notifies appropriate individuals of any delays in scheduled route • Assists with other routes when breakdown or other unusual circumstances occur as assigned • Perform s other tasks, duties, or services consistent with this position as assigned Skills and Abilities Required: The following characteristics and physical skills are important for the successful performance of assigned duties. • Excellent attendance record and be willing to attend extra training • Self-starter, highly motivated with positive attitude • Ability to oscillate between independent and collaborative work with ease • Posses s the ability to quickly analyze a situation, work efficiently, and patiently under stressful conditions, and provide timely solutions • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and possess a calm and respectful demeanor when interacting with students, parents, and school personnel Customer Contacts : • Internal: TPS District employees • External: Students, parents, patrons, and community members Supervisory Responsibilities: • This role does not directly supervise an y individuals Working Conditions: Exposure to the following situations may range from rare to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable. • Will frequently work outdoors and in a bus environment • Will supervise students and monitor behavior while traveling *Willing to train qualified candidates Tulsa Public Schools is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team of individuals who contribute to the district's mission with their talents, skills, and energy.
