Position Summary: The Carpentry Craftsperson performs skilled carpentry work including the
installation, repair, and construction of structures, fixtures, and furnishings across district
facilities. This position works independently to complete assigned work orders, applyi ng
knowledge of carpentry methods, materials, building codes, and safety standards.
This role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, measure and fabricate materials,
and execute projects ranging from routine repairs to moderate construction tasks. The
Carpentry Craftsperson coordinates with other maintenance shops as needed and reports labor,
material costs, and work order information to the Foreperson daily. This position is part of the
Skilled Trades career track within the Maintenance department. This position operates with a
high degree of independence and is expected to complete assignment s with minimal
supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
● High school diploma or equivalent required
● Completion of an accredited trade school program in carpentry or related field preferred
Experience:
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in carpentry or general construction
• Experience working in commercial, institutional, or educational facilities preferred
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred
Licenses and Certifications:
• Valid Oklahoma driver’s license with no restrictions that would preclude driving on the
job required
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Working knowledge of carpentry methods, materials, tools, and standard construction
practices
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings
• Proficiency with hand and power tools commonly used in carpentry and general
construction
• Knowledge of applicable building codes, safety standards, and district maintenance
procedures
• Ability to accurately measure, cut, and fabricate wood and other building materials
• Ability to estimate labor and material costs for assigned projects
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to plan and coordinate work schedules to complete assignments independently
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, school staff, and other trades
personnel
• Proficiency with CMMS software and basic computer applications including Microsoft Office
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of
performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable a qualified

• Perform skilled carpentry work including framing, door installation, window setting, stair
layout, and general construction and repair
• Measure, mark, cut, and fabricate wood and other materials using hand and power tools
• Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings to execute assigned projects
accurately
• Join materials using nails, screws, adhesives, and other fasteners; verify accuracy with levels, rulers, and measuring tapes
• Complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner and in accordance with district
standards
• Record and report labor hours, material costs, and relevant work order information to the
Foreperson daily
• Coordinate with other maintenance shops as needed to complete cross -trade projects
• Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable building codes
• Operate and maintain all tools, vehicles, and equipment assigned to the carpentry shop
• Follow all safety procedures, district policies, and applicable OSHA and building code requirements
• Identify and report facility conditions requiring repair or corrective action
• Assist with material estimates and project planning when requested by the Foreperson
• Support and assist other trades during large- scale or multi -shop projects as assigned
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all job sites
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests as directed
• Transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites using district vehicles
• Provide guidance and support to less experienced carpentry staff as needed
• Coordinate with school administrators and site staff to minimize disruption during work
• Maintain current knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and building code
requirements
• Ensure proper storage and handling of materials, chemicals, and equipment in
compliance with SDS requirements
• Participate in department meetings, safety trainings, and professional development as
required
• Perform other duties, tasks, or services consistent with this position as assigned
Customer Contacts:
● Internal: Maintenance staff, Forepersons, and district Facilities leadership
● External : School site administrators, staff, contracted vendors, and community partners
Supervisory Responsibility:
• This role does not directly supervise any employees
• May provide informal guidance to less experienced carpentry staff
Working and Physical Conditions: The physical demands and work environment
characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while
performing the essential functions of this position. Exposure to the following conditions may
range from rare to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable.
• Work performed in school buildings, district facilities, and outdoor construction
environments
• Frequent travel between district sites using assigned vehicles
• Exposure to construction environments including noise, dust, and temperature extremes
• Work in confined spaces, tunnels, attics, crawl spaces, and elevated areas
• Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds and work at heights
• Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment frequently up to 50 pounds, occasionally
more with assistance
• Use of personal protective equipment as required by job conditions and district safety
policies
• Potential exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, and asbestos in older facilities
• Frequent physical activity including standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and walking for extended periods
• Must be available to work overtime, evenings, and weekends without advance notice as required
