Position Summary: The Carpentry Master Craftsperson performs advanced carpentry work requiring expert -level skill in design, construction, fabrication, and building systems. This position independently executes complex projects, designs and constructs custom items for district events and functions, and coordinates work across multiple maintenance shops. This role requires extensive knowledge of woodworking, building design, construction methods, and material fabrication beyond what is expected of a Carpentry Craftsperson. The Master Craftsperson serves as a technical resource within the carpentry shop and may work with outside contractors and vendors on signage installation, specialized projects, and large -scale construction. This position represents the highest level of individual contributor expertise within the Carpentry skilled trades career track and does not includ e direct supervisory responsibility. Key Functions: • Advanced Carpentry Design, Construction, and Fabrication • Complex Project Execution and Problem Solving • Cross -Shop and Vendor Coordination • Work Order Execution, Estimation, and Documentation • Quality Assurance and Code Compliance Minimum Qualifications: Education: ● High school diploma or equivalent required ● Completion of an accredited trade school program in carpentry, cabinetmaking, or related field preferred Experience: • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in all phases of carpentry crafts including design, construction, and fabrication • Experience working in commercial, institutional, or educational facilities preferred • Experience coordinating across multiple trades or with outside contractors preferred Licenses and Certifications: • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license with no restrictions that would preclude driving on the job required • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Expert -level knowledge of carpentry methods, materials, tools, construction techniques, and building design • Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, schematics, and architectural drawings • Advanced proficiency with hand and power tools, shop equipment, and fabrication machinery • Ability to design and construct custom items including structures, fixtures, displays, and event installations • Knowledge of applicable building codes, safety standards, and district maintenance procedures • Ability to accurately estimate labor, materials, and project timelines for complex assignments • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills • Ability to coordinate work across multiple maintenance shops and with outside contractors and vendors • Strong communication skills including the ability to work with school administrators, district leadership, and external partners • Proficiency with CMMS software and basic computer applications including Microsoft Office Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions. • Perform advanced carpentry work including complex framing, structural construction, custom fabrication, and finish carpentry • Design and construct custom items for district special events, parades, displays, and other approved functions • Read and interpret blueprints and architectural drawings to plan and execute complex construction projects • Build and repair stairs, decks, ramps, shelving, walls, wall frames, ceiling grids, and other structural components • Coordinate with other maintenance shops for specialized cross -trade project work throughout the district • Work with outside contractors and vendors on signage installation, repair, and specialized construction projects • Provide accurate estimates of labor, material costs, and project timelines for complex assignments • Complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner and in accordance with district standards • Record and report labor hours, material costs, and relevant work order information to the Foreperson daily • Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable building codes and district standards • Identify areas requiring repair, aesthetic improvement, or corrective action and take appropriate steps • Follow all safety procedures, district policies, and applicable OSHA and building code requirements • Operate and maintain all tools, vehicles, shop equipment, and fabrication machinery assigned to the carpentry shop • Serve as a technical resource for carpentry -related questions, project planning, and problem solving • Provide guidance and mentoring to Carpentry Craftspersons and less experienced staff • Respond to emergency maintenance requests as directed • Transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites using district vehicles • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all job sites and in the carpentry shop • Ensure proper storage and handling of materials, chemicals, and equipment in compliance with SDS requirements • Maintain current knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, building codes, and construction industry standards • Participate in department meetings, safety trainings, and professional development as required • Perform other duties, tasks, or services consistent with this position as assigned Customer Contacts: ● Internal: Maintenance staff, Forepersons, and district Facilities leadership ● External : School site administrators and staff, outside contractors, vendors, and community partners Supervisory Responsibility: • This role does not directly supervise any employees • Provides technical guidance and mentoring to Carpentry Craftspersons and less experienced staff Working and Physical Conditions: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this position.
