Also, we love to have fun! Position Summary : Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the entire facility using the proper chemicals, equipment and techniques. He/she may be required to fill in for the Building and Grounds Site Supervisor (BGSS) in his/her absence. He/she will report any unsafe conditions and/or maintenance needs to the BGSS and supervisors. Minimum Qualifications: Education : • High school diploma or equivalent preferred Experience: • Previous experience as a custodian preferred Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, E tc.: • Clear unders tanding of different cleaning prod ucts and equipment • Able or willingness to lear n Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office S uite • Biling ual in Spanish is a plus Physical Requirements : • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs . unassi sted • Ability to occasional ly life more than 50 lbs. assist ed • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions. • Dump s trash • Cleans windows • Moves furniture • Operate s custodial equipment • Lock s the doors at specified times • Takes down the flag • Secur es all buildings • Clean s the classrooms (i.e., empt ies the pencil sharpeners, empties the trash, dusts, replace s burned out lights, clean s desk/tables, clean s sinks, fill s dispensers if applicable, cleans the chalkboard, sweep s/vacuum s the floor, mop s, secure s the windows and lock s the doors) • Cleans the restrooms (i.e., fill s dispensers, empt ies all trash, clean s and disinfect s sinks and fixtures , clean s and disinfect s stools and urinals, clean s mirrors, clean s and disinfect s walls and stalls, check s ceiling for paper towels and other objects, replace s burned out lights, sweep s and mops floors) • Cleans the gyms and locker rooms using proper procedures • Cleans the main office and nurse’s station using proper procedures • Clean s the cafeteria and/or kitchen using proper procedures • Clean s the auditorium using proper procedures • Clean s the drinking fountains and hand washing sinks • Sweep s, mop s and buff s the hallways using proper procedures • Assists the Building and Grounds Site Supervisor in summer clean -up and special cleaning projects as needed • Performs other duties, tasks, and services consistent with this posi tion as assigned Skills and Abilities • Ability to work collaboratively with others on a team • Ability to safely operate and properly maintain custodial equipment • Ability to effectively communicate using technology , verbally and in writing • Must be a self -starter, highly motivated, have a positive attitude, and capable of relating to staff • Must have the ability, skill, and willingness to learn all phases of the job duties • Ability to prioritize work and influence others to complete assignments timely • Must be conscientious and exhibit good workmanship in all areas of position Customer Contacts: • Internal: TPS District Employees • External: Health Department officials, Fire Marshall, Insurance In spectors, Partnered vendors, community members Supervisory Responsibilities: • This role does not directly supervise any individuals Working Conditions: Exposure to the following situations may range from rare to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable. • Outside work in all weather condi tions – extreme heat and cold included • Able to tolerate noise, movement, and a fast -paced environment • Able to tolerate cleaning supplies and odors associated with these cleaning agents Tulsa Public Schools is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team of individuals who contribute to the district's mission with their talents, skills and energy.
