Position Summary: The Director of School Operations – School Policy, Safety, and Systems Alignment provides district-level leadership for operational strategy, safety systems, policy alignment, and business continuity practices across Tulsa Public Schools. This role leads the design, coordination, and continuous improvement of operational frameworks that support safe, compliant, and high-functioning school environments. The Director ensures alignment across safety initiatives, operational policies, accreditation standards, attendance systems, scheduling structures, and related compliance functions. The Director collaborates closely with district leadership, school leaders, and operational teams to strengthen systems that support safe schools, operational continuity, and effective implementation of district policies and procedures. Key Functions: ● Lead the design and coordination of districtwide operational frameworks supporting safety, compliance, and effective school environments ● Oversee safety and prevention initiatives aligned with district standards and regulatory requirements ● Manage operational vendor contracts and budgets to ensure effective service delivery and fiscal accountability ● Establish and monitor key performance indicators for operational effectiveness and system performance ● Advise district leadership on operational risk, compliance considerations, and system performance ● Collaborate with school leaders and district departments to ensure consistent implementation of operational systems Minimum Qualifications: Education: ● Bachelor’s degree required ● Master’s degree preferred Experience: ● Seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in school operations, district operations, or large-scale program management ● Experience leading complex, multi-site operational initiatives ● Experience managing vendor relationships and operational budgets preferred ● Experience supporting operational systems in large organizations or school districts preferred Licenses and Certifications: ● Valid Oklahoma driver’s license required Knowledge and Skills: ● Strong strategic systems thinking and operational planning skills ● Ability to manage complex, high-risk operational initiatives ● Strong financial management and vendor oversight capability ● Effective cross-functional leadership and stakeholder collaboration ● Ability to translate policy and regulatory requirements into workable operational systems ● Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in complex operational environments ● Ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities simultaneously ● Strong communication and relationship-building skills with district leaders, school leaders, and operational staff Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions. ● Develop and implement districtwide operational strategies aligned with board priorities and district strategic goals ● Lead the design and coordination of operational frameworks that support safety, compliance, and effective school operations ● Ensure alignment across safety initiatives, operational policies, accreditation requirements, and related district systems ● Advise district leadership on operational risk, compliance considerations, and system performance ● Oversee safety and prevention initiatives aligned with district standards and regulatory requirements ● Manage operational vendor contracts and oversee related budgets to ensure effective service delivery and fiscal accountability ● Establish and monitor key performance indicators for operational effectiveness and system performance ● Collaborate with school leaders and district departments to ensure operational systems are implemented consistently across schools ● Serve as a liaison between operational teams, school leaders, and district leadership to coordinate operational initiatives and address systemic challenges ● Lead cross-functional teams responsible for implementing operational initiatives and district operational priorities ● Provide leadership and direction to assigned operational staff and support development of operational capacity within the department ● Analyze operational data and feedback to identify opportunities for system improvement and increased efficiency ● Support continuous improvement of operational systems to strengthen school safety, compliance, and operational effectiveness ● Perform other duties as assigned in support of district operational priorities Customer Contacts: ● Internal: District staff, school administrators, operational leaders, and support teams ● External: Community partners, vendors, and organizations supporting district operational initiatives Supervisory Responsibility: ● Directly supervises assigned School Operations staff and provides cross-functional leadership and coordination across operational teams in support of district priorities.
