Position Summary: The Family Retention & Recruitment Specialist supports Tulsa Public Schools
by helping schools engage, retain, and recruit families. The specialist works on-site to share school
stories, strengthen family engagement, and improve the overall TPS experience. This role
coordinates outreach, captures simple photos and videos, supports family communication efforts,
and assists with events such as Match Day, Showcase Nights, and Success Van activities. The
specialist also tracks outreach data and helps schools follow district standards for customer service,
communication, and community engagement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
β High School Diploma required
β Bachelorβs degree in education, marketing, business, communications, hospitality
management, or related fields preferred
Experience:
β 2+ years progressive growth in program administration preferred
β Experience in public education is strongly preferred
β Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The duties below show the main expectations for

β Serve as the main point of contact for 10β15 schools to support family retention,
engagement, and recruitment.
β Visit school sites regularly to observe family engagement, identify needs, and highlight
positive practices.
β Capture simple photos, videos, and short features to share school stories and build
community pride.
β Engage families through outreach such as phone calls, texts, emails, and in-person
interactions.
β Support district events, including Match Day, Enrollment Expos, Success Van activities, and
parent engagement events.
β Help schools with basic marketing and communication materials that follow district branding.
β Track and report outreach data each week, including family contacts and participation.
β Work with school leaders and district teams to support plans related to attendance,
enrollment, and customer service.
β Model a positive, solutions-focused approach when working with families, students, and
colleagues.
β Provide logistical support for school and district events, including setup, facilitation, and
follow-up.
β Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities Required: The following skills and abilities are needed to perform the
essential duties of this position.
β Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with school leaders, families, and
community partners
β Strong written, verbal, and digital communication skills
β Proficiency with Google Suite, social media platforms, and basic photo/video tools
β Ability to manage multiple school sites and prioritize tasks
β Ability to create simple stories or features that highlight student and school experiences
β’ Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
β Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced settings

β Internal: TPS district employees
β External: Students, families, community partners, and school volunteers
Supervisory Responsibility:

Working Conditions: Exposure to the following situations may range from rare to frequent based
on the needs of the role.
β Works in an office setting at the Parent Resource Center and in schools across the district
β Must have reliable transportation to travel between schools, district sites, and community
locations
β Will attend some evening or weekend events as needed
β Works around families, students, school staff, and community partners
β May use a computer, phone, copier, and other office equipment for long periods of time
β May work in busy or noisy environments during events or family activities
Physical Requirements: These activities may vary in frequency based on the needs of the job.
β Moves around classrooms, offices, and event spaces
β Lifts, carries, or sets up materials and supplies up to 20 pounds (such as flyers, boxes of
handouts, event items)
β Stands for extended periods during events, workshops, or parent meetings
β Uses a computer and other office equipment for long periods
β Communicates in person, by phone, and in writing with families, staff, and community
partners
β Travels between district sites and community locations as part of regular work.
