Position Summary : Works with students and the entire school community supporting health
needs such as medication administration, first aid, immunization compliance, and workers
compensation documentation, etc. Under the supervision of the Site administrator and Manager
of School Nursing . Assisted on site, as needed, by the assigned registered nurse. Computer
use for tasks such as email, submitting attachments, reports, online supply orders ,
immunization records, etc.
Minimum Qualifications :
Education:
• High school diploma or General Education Development certificate
• Certification in one of the following
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
• Certified Medication Aid (CMA)
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Health related associate or bachelor's degree preferred
Experience :
• One (1) year experience in K-12 settings that service low -income students and families
preferred
• One (1) year experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Etc. :
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
• Possess or willing to obtain First Aid and CPR certification
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of

General:
• Attend s and complete s professional development classes
• Maintain s an adequate record of attendance and punctuality
• Answer s telephone, provide s information as appropriate, direct s calls as appropriate
• Performs other tasks, duties, or services as consistent with this position as assigned

Health Related:
• Completion of orientation process as outlined, including medical terminology,
medication, common health related school conditions (diabetes, seizure, asthma) , etc.
• Interview s, measure s vital signs (TPR and BP), height and weight and record s
information on health record
• Maintain s a clean and orderly clinic environment
• Maintain s clinic inventory on equipment and supplies
• Orders health supplies and materials as needed
• Schedule s health appointments with medical consultant as appropriate
• Provide s care for illness or injuries for students and staff occurring at assigned sites, in
accordance with policies and procedures
• Perform s assessment techniques and screening programs as directed
• Compile s and maintain s health records which includes confidentiality
• Maintain s and use s a variety of health record indexes, storage and retrieval systems
• Transport s students and staff using wheelchair as appropriate)
• Uses medical terminology appropriately and demonstrate s understanding of common
childhood growth and development principles
• Observe s and maintain s OSHA Standards and Blood and Blood borne pathogens and
other applicable Federal and State regulations
• Assist s with health education as needed, i.e., duplicating, distributing materials,
arranging displays, bulletin boards, etc.
• Assist s registered nurse as requested and follow s delegat ed procedures and policies
Clerical:
• Maintain s daily pupil attendance records as directed by school principal
• Check s absentee records and follow s up on children with frequent absences due to
illness
• Prepare s special reports as requested
• Assist s with clerical duties as the school principal may direct when time permits from
duties necessary to maintain the safe operation of the health clinic
