Position Summary: The HVAC Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for HVAC
maintenance, repair, replacement, and preventive maintenance activities across Tulsa Public
Schools facilities. This role supervises shop personnel and work crews, assigns and prioritizes
work orders, and coordinates workflow to ensure timely completion, safety compliance, and
quality workmanship. The HVAC Supervisor oversees work involving commercial and industrial heating and air systems and coordinates with the Bond Department, Energy Managem ent,
contractors, vendors, and other maintenance shops to support system recordkeeping, contribute to capital planning efforts, and assist with specialized projects across the district.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
β High school diploma or equivalent required
β Completion of an accredited trade school preferred
Experience:
β Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience working with
commercial or industrial HVAC systems
β Demonstrated supervisory or lead experience directing the work of technical staff
β Experience with large- capacity HVAC systems, including direct expansion units and
refrigeration systems
β Experience with geothermal systems and high- efficiency boilers preferred
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified

β β’ Supervise HVAC shop personnel, including staffing coordination, training
support, scheduling, and timekeeping
β Assign, prioritize, and monitor work orders to ensure timely completion and efficient use of resources
β Exercise independent judgment in prioritizing work, coordinating resources, and
overseeing personnel
β Provide oversight of HVAC maintenance, repair, replacement, and preventive
maintenance activities
β Coordinate HVAC projects with other maintenance shops, the Bond Department, Energy
Management, contractors, and vendors
β Review work quality and conduct inspections during and following project completion
β Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA requirements, EPA regulations, MSDS
protocols, and applicable building and mechanical codes
β Support planning for seasonal work and capital improvement projects through
scheduling, documentation, and coordination
β Maintain accurate records related to HVAC systems, equipment condition, maintenance
history, and inventory
β Prepare or review labor and material estimates for planning and coordination purposes
β Maintain current knowledge of industry practices, codes, and technologies through training and professional development
β Perform other duties consistent with the scope and level of the position as assigned
Skills and Abilities Required: The following characteristics and physical skills are important for

β Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate multiple work crews and projects simultaneously
β Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions aligned with safety, compliance, and operational priorities
β Ability to communicate clearly and consistently with staff, leadership, vendors, and
partner departments
β Ability to interpret technical documentation, schematics, blueprints, and applicable codes
β Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems
(CMMS)
β Ability to support and adapt to Energy Management Systems and automated control
technologies
β Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings or weekends when operational
needs require
Customer Contacts:
β Internal: Maintenance leadership, supervisors, forepersons, Bond Department, Energy
Management, and district staff
β External: Contractors, vendors, site administrators, and inspectors
Supervisory Responsibility:
β Directly supervises HVAC shop personnel and coordinates the work of employees
engaged in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair activities
Working and P hysical Conditions: Exposure to the following situations may range from rare
to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable.
β Performing duties in office, mechanical, construction, and field environments
β Exposure to inclement weather, noise, dust, and active maintenance settings
β Travel between district facilities
β Standing and walking for extended periods during inspections
β Climbing ladders or stairs and accessing rooftops or mechanical rooms
β Occasional bending, reaching, or lifting of tools or materials related to inspection and
supervisory oversight
