Position Summary: To assist the library media specialist with office/clerical duties, locating,
circulating, and shelving library materials. Supports the mission of the Library and Instructional
Media Program and promotes access to library resources by providing technical assistance to
the library media specialist and assistance to teachers, students, and other patrons.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• 48 hours of approved college credit, an associate degree from an accredited school , or
successful completion of a district approved highly qualified test preferred
Experience:
• One (1) year experience working with children preferred
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stoop, bend, stretch
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders or stepstools to reach upper shelves
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Etc.:
• Proficient or willing to learn Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of
performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified

• Assists library users in finding resources, interpreting , and translating facts and
information
• Helps librarian maintain library collections by shelving, mending , and repairing library
books , and other library related materials
• Assists librarian with annual and/or bi-annual library inventory and weeding library materials
• Assists librarian with circulating library materials, processing inter -library loan requests ,
and running and distributing overdue/lost library reports in Destiny
• Assists library users with accessing TPS online library resources
• Assists the librarian in maintaining a welcoming, neat, clean, and clutter free library
space
• Helps with distributing and collecting library Chromebooks
• Assists students logging into library Chromebooks
• Alerts librarian in special situations and the needs of individual children
• Guides children in working cooperatively with other children
• Accompanies students when trips to the office or school nurse are necessary
• Enforces school board policies and regulations
• Collects and displays suitable material for library displays
• Helps maintain a supportive, "customer friendly" learning environment in the library
through positive communication with all library patrons
• Maintains confidentiality of all patron records
• Performs other duties, tasks, or services consistent with this position as assigned
Skills and Abilities Required : The following characteristics and physical skills are important
for the successful performance of assigned duties.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patrons, co -workers and supervisors
• Ability to follow library policies and procedures, especially as related to issuing library
cards, checking out items, and processing new materials.
• Ability to learn and work with TPS computer applications and the Destiny library
management system
• Ability to oscillate between independent and collaborative work with ease

• External: Students, parents, community members
Supervisory Responsibility:
• This role does not supervise any individuals
