Position Summary: The Special Education Program Coordinator is responsible for
coordinating and supporting the design, implementation, and evaluation of special education
programs across the district. Working directly with the Special Education Supervisor of
Programs, this role ensures that all services align with state and federal mandates, district
priorities, and the diverse needs of students with disabilities. The Program Coordinator
promotes inclusive practices, assists in Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) decisions, supports
program devel opment for centralized services, and provides professional development for
educators to enhance instructional effectiveness. This position plays a vital role in fostering
collaboration, improving student outcomes, and ensuring access to high -quality educational
opportunities.
Key Functions:
• Coordinate the design, implementation, and evaluation of special education programs
across the district
• Ensure special education services comply with IDEA and applicable state and federal
mandates
• Support Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) decisions and inclusive instructional
practices
• Develop and deliver professional development that strengthens specialized instruction
• Analyze program data to evaluate effectiveness and inform program decisions
• Serve as a liaison among educators, families, and community stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
● Bachelor’s Degree
● Master’s Degree (preferred)
Experience:
• Three (3) years successful experience in special education, program coordination, or
related fields
• Proven experience in data analysis and program evaluation
Licenses and Certifications:
• Must possess and maintain a valid Oklahoma teaching certificate in special education
• Administrator certificate preferred
• Must posses and maintain a valid Driver ’s License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of federal and state special education regulations
• Strong understanding of special education practices, compliance, and instructional
methods
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
• Proficiency in data analysis and technology tools for program monitoring and reporting
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem -solving skills
• Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and foster an inclusive environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging multiple stakeholders
• Open to change and applies critical thinking while developing solutions based on new
guidelines, methods, technologies, and techniques
• Ability to manage both up and down and create buy -in with people with diverse
backgrounds and perspectives for new ideas and approaches
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of

• Collaborates with district leadership to design and implement special education
programs that meet diverse student needs
• Monitors compliance with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requirements
and other relevant mandates
• Supports Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) decisions, ensuring students’ maximum
access to general education
• Develops and delivers professional development on inclusive practices, instructional
strategies, and specialized services
• Coordinates and supports centralized programs, including curriculum planning, staff
training, and resource allocation
• Analyzes program data to inform decisions and evaluate effectiveness
• Acts as a liaison among educators, families, and community stakeholders to address
concerns and align goals
• Provides technical assistance to school teams regarding Individualized Education
Programs (IEPs)
• Advocates for equitable resources and opportunities for students with disabilities
• Performs other tasks, duties, or services consistent with this position as assigned
including potential deployment to provide direct student instruction as needed

Working and Physical Conditions: The physical demands and work environment

performing the essential functions of this position. Exposure to the following conditions may
range from rare to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable.
• Work is primarily performed in an office environment
• Work is primarily sedentary and requires sustained periods of sitting, computer and
keyboard use, and reading from a screen
• Requires sufficient mobility to travel between district and non -district sites, ranging from
occasional to frequent
• Frequent verbal and written communication with staff, families, and stakeholders
• Occasional reassignment to provide direct student instruction may involve a classroom
environment and the physical demands of that setting
