Position Summary : As a teacher with Tulsa Public Schools, you will be tasked with creating a
flexible secondary, subject specific program and a class environment favorable to learning and
personal growth. You will establish effective rapport with all stakeholders (students, families,
and colleagues); motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide
a good academic foundation; and master the objectives of each lesson set forth by district
curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education :
• Bachelor’s degree
Experience:
• Previous experience working with children preferred
• Previous teaching experience preferred
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc..
• Oklahoma Teaching Certification in the applicable area or the ability to be
Emergency Certified in the applicable area
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
• Required to attend subject area/department training as needed
• Required to maintain professional certification and attend professional
development provided by the district
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of

• Teach es content and skills in the applicable subject area, utilizing a course of study
adopted by the State of Oklahoma Academic Standard and approved by the district and
the school board
• Utilize s district technology and programs to create effective learning experiences
• Establish es and maintain s systems and routines to create a safe, purposeful, and
welcoming classroom environment focused on learning
• Implement s a classroom behavior management system within the bounds of site
procedures that is equitable and restorative
• Uses student data to inform and refine teaching practices
• Adapt s subject material , differentiate s instructional methods and model s and develop s
lessons that guide and challenge students
• Select s and requisition s district approved books and instructional materials appropriate
to the interest and maturity level of students; maintain s required inventory records
• Adapt s district approved curriculum to provide individual, small -group, or remedial
instruction to meet the needs of individual students
• Promote s critical analysis through demonstration and group discussion based on a
variety of mass media pertaining to the area of study
• Encourage s students to think independently and to express original ideas through
writing, speaking and problem -solving activities
• Evaluate s each student’s progress towards high school graduation and maintain s
progress records as determined by the district
• Provide s students and families with feedback to support academic success
• Communicate s with families regularly regarding student progress in academic skills and
towards high school graduation
• Identif ies student’s needs and cooperate s with other professional staff members in
assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, social and learning problems
• Supervise s students in and out of the classroom during the assigned work day
• Work s with students, other classroom teachers and administrators to encourage
participation and support in schoolwide events
• Participate s in school -based events that take place outside of school hours, including but
not limited to parent teacher conferences
• Administer s or monitor s testing
• Assists with special projects
• Performs other duties, tasks, and services consisted with this position as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• This role may be required to oversee teacher assistants and/or paraprofessionals
